While home for the holidays, I decided to partake in the sort of "underworld" that is beer trading. Beer trading is a way to obtain beers that would typically not be available in your area, are limited releases, and those with such a low bottle count; it is unbelievable. With a list that dates back over two years, I was able to cross off nearly every beer that I had been searching for. I am sure that it comes to as no surprise that the majority of these beers were Imperial Stouts. For whatever reason, I have an affinity for these dark, viscous, and rich beers. If you are ever wanting to start trading beers or happen to live in a particular area in which you are fortunate enough to obtain these beers, I hope this helps as to what is worth the hype and what is not! Click on the highlighted statement for details & info on each beer.

Such an excellent example of what Barrel Aging can do: Worth it! |
A new comer, but definitely limited, and excellent: Worth it! |
A not so difficult to come by Imperial Stout, but solid: Worth it! |
With a year of aging on it, was still super chocolaty: Worth it! |
Most all of the "rare" beers that I obtained where all thanks to Midnight Suns Berserker: Worth it! |
After 2 months of trading and obtaining all of those Imperial Stouts, I am pretty sure that I won't be craving one for quite some time while in Paris! This wraps up Stateside for the time being, as I am currently in Paris and once again looking forward to the wonderful world of European Beer; specifically the ever growing and developing French beer scene! Please feel free to follow my travels once again at
