Brewery Feature: Two Beers!

As odd as it sounds there are many things that can and do discourage me from purchasing a product and a name is certainly one of them. I have to admit, I have always found the name of this brewery to not only be unusual but just confusing. It wasn't until I read their "story" that I understood why they named their brewery Two Beers. It all stems from a quote that founder Joel Vandenbrink exclaimed to a friend of his during a discussion; "I guess life is just a little more honest after two beers.” Now that I know the story behind the name, I happen to really like it and am glad that the name wasn't off putting enough to discourage me from trying their beers because I would have regretted it!

Their homepage and intro into a very interactive website.

Founded in 2005, Two Beers is located in the SoDo  neighborhood of Seattle and has come a long way in six years. The most recent addition to their operation is canning a couple of their brews; one of which is my favorite that I have continued to buy over the last few weeks! Aside from the transition to canning, Two Beers is environmentally and locally minded and do their best to exclusively use regional if not local ingredients. Despite having tried and enjoyed several of their offerings, their little caned creation called ISA; India Session Ale is by far my favorite and most definitely a staple for summer. At 4.7% abv, it is not technically a session ale but close enough for me. It has a great melding of hop notes, solid bitterness, light bodied, and highly drinkable. A perfect summertime beer, in a can...what more could you ask for?

So delicious, I'll even drink it from the can...while mowing the lawn!

Having had five of their offerings, I can say that  Two Beers has done a great job offering well balanced and easy drinking beers at a nice price point. If you happen to see one of their handles around town, give it a shot. I have had several Crooked Wits and Persnickity Pales on tap and have not been dissapointed!
